Decorating
For Your Wedding
NOTE:
You will be charged a clean up fee if you, your wedding party,
contractors
and guests do not adhere to these rules.

SHEDDING FERNS:
Because we have no weekend custodial staff to clean between events we
ask that you inform your florist to limit the types of greenery used
in your floral designs to those that do not shed.
NO GLITTER:
Glitter is strictly prohibited because it always sheds. No bouquets,
decorations or clothing should be sprayed with glitter. It is very
difficult to clean up and usually ends up on the seat of your guests clothing!!
DROPPING PETALS:
It is absolutely prohibited to drop petals down the aisle at your
ceremony and/or to throw petals outside afterwards. As an
alternative, we suggest that flower girls simply carry flowers or
hand out single stems to guests as they come down the aisle. This policy also
applies to silk petals and those groups that use an aisle runner. Time constraints
do not allow for the extra clean up time needed.
NO WAX CANDLES:
State fire code prohibits the use of wax candles at Memorial Chapel.
For this reason we provide you with beautiful brass candelabras or
candlesticks with oil filled candles. These must be used on the altar table
in the chancel of the chapel. We also have a Unity Candle ensemble that can be
reserved. Note: With prior approval, an exception can be made if the
couple prefers to bring their own wax Unity Candle ensemble. It also must be
used on the altar table. No floor standing candles allowed.
IMPORTANT: Please pay close attention to the time slot
that you are allowed. Under no circumstances are you to exceed your
scheduled time period, as there may be another event scheduled right
after yours.

NOTHING IS TO BE THROWN:
Rice, bird seed, flower petals, etc. may not be thrown in or near the
Chapel. Blowing bubbles or releasing doves, butterflies or balloons
is allowed if given the time needed during your time period. However, this
usually interferes with the amount of time needed for
photographs.
NO INCENSE:
No incense or any materials that would leave a lasting odor in the
Chapel may be used.
NO RECEIVING LINE AT THE CHAPEL:
Because the Chapel and parking lots must be cleared immediately after
your ceremony to allow parking for the next wedding, there is not
enough time for you to have a receiving line in or near the Chapel
unless you have reserved two time periods. Many couples prefer to
greet their guests at the reception.
NO ALCOHOL:
Alcohol is strictly prohibited anywhere inside or out at Memorial
Chapel! The chapel staff will ask that you immediately take alcohol
of any form away from the chapel building and grounds.
NO SMOKING:
No smoking is permitted anywhere in the chapel.
LIMITATIONS ON OUTSIDE PHOTOS:
The chapel staff truly wants your wedding day to be a private
affair. For this reason we limit outdoor photos to the time period
you’ve reserved and to the area around the chapel you rented for your
ceremony. This prevents instances of another bride being
photographed outside the window during your ceremony.
